The 3 Circles Training Tool
This six-week training will empower you to turn everyday conversations into gospel conversations using the 3 Circles. The 3 Circles is a user-friendly evangelistic tool for a new generation. This tool is conversational and relational making it attractive for millennials, many of whom have never been trained in personal evangelism. However, this training works for all ages and stages of life. The 3 Circles incorporates the biblical metanarrative as well as our own personal stories to tell the good news that Jesus has made a way out of the broken places we find ourselves. It is easily reproduced and it is producing new disciples. Every day we have opportunities to transition conversations to the Gospel and give an Invitation. So we hope this tool helps you proclaim Jesus and make disciples.
Training Videos & Assignments
Lesson 1 | The 3 Circles
Practice the 3 Circles with someone three times this week. You can practice with a family member or friend—a believer or non-believer. A great way to start conversations is to say, “I’m taking at class at church and was wondering if I could practice what I’m learning on you?”
Text or email any gospel conversations you have to your leader or someone in your church family.
Write down the names of four people you know personally who have yet to repent and believe the gospel. The four people are: a family member, a friend, a neighbor or co-worker and that one person who you would say will “never” repent and believe. This is the most far from God (FFG) person you know! For example, Saul of Tarsus, a Pharisee and persecutor of early Christians, would have been on someone’s prayer list as the most FFG person he knew. Yet God knew that Saul would become Paul and he would one day spearhead the movement of the Spirit that took the gospel to 8 million people in two years (Acts 19:10).
Pray daily for these people.
Lesson 2 | The Gospel
Practice the 3 Circles with someone five times this week. Again, friend or stranger, Christian or non- Christian, just practice and hone your gospel presentation. You have two opportunities: you can share the 3 Circles with someone far from God or train another Christian (friend, family member, stranger) to share the 3 Circles. Write three names of people who you could tell or train this week.
Write out your own succinct, complete gospel presentation.
Continue to pray daily for your four people who are far from God.
Lesson 3 | Transition to the Gospel
Practice your transition statements and 3 Circles (with a clear gospel presentation) with someone every day—Christian or non-Christian.
Write your own transition statement and memorize it.
Pray daily for your four people who are far from God.
Lesson 4 | Invite A Gospel Response
Work on your own theologically accurate salvation prayer that you can use to guide others in their decision to repent and believe in Jesus.
Practice your TGI process—transition, gospel and invitation— ve times this week. Whether you are telling (non-Christian) or training (Christian), you need to practice. Pray each day that God will give you actual opportunities to transition a conversation to the gospel and invite that person to repent and believe.
Remember to text any gospel conversations you have to your leader or someone in your church family.
Pray daily for your four people who are far from God and that they may know Him.
Lesson 5 | Red, Yellow, and Green Responses
Work on your own red, yellow and green light responses.
Practice the TGI process—transition, gospel and invitation— ve times this week. Pray daily that God will give you actual opportunities to transition the conversation to the gospel so you can practice handling all the possible responses: red, yellow and green light.
Pray daily for your four people who are far from God and other people those people know who are also far from God.
Lesson 6 | It Worked Now What
Daily look for opportunities to turn everyday conversations to the 3 Circles and train others to do the same.
Train and disciple those who repent and believe to use the 3 Circles.
Pray daily at 10:02 for those you know personally who are far from God and ask God to use you to give people repeated opportunities to hear and respond to the gospel.
